In this feature she shares with us some travel tips for long haul flights and her favourite destinations in Europe.

How do you know Travel Architects?

Through Chris Ritchie. She’s an amazing Pilates Instructor. We’ve worked with her for many years.

Tell us about some of your favourite travel destinations?

Three destinations come to mind - Switzerland, Munich & Crete.

Switzerland – Everything about Switzerland is breath-taking and pure. This place can make the simplest things like walking beside a river the most beautiful and gratifying experience.

Munich – I love beer so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to experience a Beer hall in the Bavaria part of Germany. It was everything I hoped it to be!

Chania (Crete) – I met someone from Crete when I was travelling through Copenhagen. She showed me pictures of their beaches and I was sold. I explored the city for two weeks and made some great friends.

Can you share with us some suggestions on how chiropractic care can assist before and after travel?

I’ve been having regular Chiropractic care for 7 years and with each year I have become more in tune with what my body wants and needs. I am very aware of how much stress travel can place on the body so I make sure to stick to the basics – get adjusted, eat wholesome, stay hydrated, sleep enough & move daily.

And what are your tips for long haul flights?

I always carry a big bottle of water, pack snacks that are high in fat or hydrating (cucumbers, watermelon, oranges, cashews, dates and almonds) and disinfectant wipes (to clean your sitting area).

How do you stay fit & healthy while travelling?

I love weight training. I take it upon myself to look for local gyms if my accommodation doesn’t have gym facilities. I really enjoyed experiencing the different gym cultures Europe had to offer.

I also enjoy getting lost in cities by foot.

What's on your travel bucket list, and why?

Vietnam – The variety in culture, food & affordability. I’m travelling to Vietnam in July :-)

Mudgee – I’ve heard the wine is great!

Do you have any advice for our readers on taking the plunge and travelling independently?

The hardest part about travelling solo for the first time is always going to be booking your initial flight and getting to your first destination. After you’ve experienced that first journey everything else becomes easier. Travelling independently isn’t for everyone but you’ll never know until you try!
